Can you tell us about your role at WareHQ Labs?
Being part of an early-stage company means I tend to wear a lot of hats. Most importantly I ensure our product engineering is on track and meeting our security, quality and user needs.
What does your typical workday look like right now?
I spend a couple hours coordinating with customers, stakeholders, designers and product managers to ensure we’re on track. Most of my day, however, is spent in the code executing on user stories, infrastructure needs and automation.
What’s your “why” story?
I love writing code and creating software solutions that make lives better, but more importantly I love working on a collaborative team solving problems in ways I could never do on my own.
How did you get where you are today?
I started with a love for solving problems and understanding how things work. Ultimately that led me to a degree in Computer Science and a degree in Mathematics from the University of Missouri. Following my college education I pursued a career in software development. Each job or project I worked on, I expanded my knowledge through on the job training and side project exploration. Over the years my tool chest has grown to include not only technologies, but also strategies for employing those technologies across a variety of architectures and team structures.
What excites you about working at WareHQ Labs?
Every day brings a new challenge in the code, in the business or in the lives of our customers which gives me an opportunity to solve problems and better understand how things work. I’m also excited to spend those days with people in person whether it be in our Springfield office, site visits with customers or in our Kansas City office.
